About campMore than 75 years ago, founders Tex and Pat Robertson created Camp Longhorn on the shores of Inks Lake and made it a camp like no other. Kids have fun all day, gain confidence in themselves, and forge lifelong friendships as they eat, sleep and play together, returning summer after summer. With its “Attawaytogo” spirit, Camp Longhorn challenges kids to try different things – from blobs and trolleys to water skiing and ropes courses. Each year campers experience new activities, knowing that when they return they will have both old favorites and new to look forward to.

History |
Camp Longhorn was established in 1939 by Tex and Pat Robertson. They decided to
build Camp Longhorn on Inks Lake in Burnet, TX. In the first year of camp, they had only one paid camper, which is far from the number of campers they get today. Each summer thousands of campers come to the three different locations Camp Longhorn has to offer. Just a few years before Camp was started Tex founded the University of Texas swim program, and some of his swimmers actually became the first Camp Longhorn counselors. In 1975 a second location of camp was opened about 10 miles down the road by Tex and Pat, the new location was named Indian Springs. This year will be the opening year of Camp Longhorns third location, C3. Sadly in 2007 Tex passed away, and in 2015 Pat followed. Although they are gone their spirit and traditions are still carried out today by the campers and counselors. |
